The Northeast Ag Expo Summer Field Day was held on July 27th in Gates County at Indian Neck Farms with over 275 people in attendance. The field day began with breakfast and a trade show of over 30 agribusiness vendors. Field tours showcased soybean, cotton, peanut, and sesame research trials implemented at the site aimed at evaluating the efficiency and profitability of various treatments and strategies, as well as a focus on irrigation management. This annual event is a collaborative effort of Extension staff from Camden, Currituck, Chowan, Gates, Pasquotank, and Perquimans counties which rotates among host farms in the region.

4-H logoGet Involved With 4-H!

4-H is where we “Learn by Doing.” We have three active clubs in Camden County: Reaching for the Stars 4-H Club, Camden County 4-H Shooting Sports and Camden County Ribbon Chasers 4-H Club. Youth can also join as a member at large to participate in various activities throughout the year. As a 4-Her your child can participate in educational field trips, STEM projects, complete works of art for the state fair, go to camp, raise an animal for the livestock show, create a presentation for District Activity Day, develop their resume and practice interview skills, and so much more, all while building lifelong friendships. 4-H membership is free for ages 5-19 and expenses are minimal so that members have great opportunities without breaking the bank!
We also have volunteer opportunities throughout the year. You can help with existing clubs and programs or start a club of your own!
Please contact our 4-H Agent, Marcia Berry (marcia_berry@ncsu.edu) for additional information or stop by her booth at each of the Camden County School’s open house events.
