Camden Extension Connections: March 2024

N.C. Cooperative Extension in partnership with Camden’s County Public library has been providing monthly youth cooking programs. Each month participants learn how to make a delicious and healthy treat while learning a cooking skills that can be applied at home. This month we made rainbow fruit skewers while we demonstrated our knife skills.

The Camden County 4-H Foundation is hosting a Family Fun BINGO Night to help raise funds for Camden 4-H programs. April 12th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Camden County Public Library. Everyone is welcome. The cost is $10/pack of cards. Snacks and drinks will be sold as well. Cash or check will be accepted.
Northeast District 4-H Activity Day
Share a topic you are passionate about at the Northeast 4-H District Activity Day! District Activity Day is an annual public speaking competition. There will be a County Activity Day to practice your presentation. Call Ms. Marcia for more information.
SPIN Clubs
A 4-H SPIN club is a short commitment with a lasting impact! SPIN Clubs require 6 hours of instruction from our volunteers, so you can do 3 weeks at 2 hours per week, 6 weeks at 1 hour per week or stretch it out at once per month for 6 months. 2024 Chowan County Regional Fair Giant Pumpkin Contest
This contest is open to 4-H youth (ages 8-18) that reside in Northeastern North Carolina. Seed packets will be provided for each youth participant. Youth must keep a record of the project from soil preparation through harvest. A record book will be provided. It will be the responsibility of the youth and their parent/guardian to get the pumpkin to the fairgrounds for weigh-in. Date is to be determined.
Cash and trophy prizes will be awarded for the largest pumpkin and best record book. Register Online: go.ncsu.edu/giant-pumpkin-contest
Kitchen Tech Series
There are tons of kitchen tools available to the home cook; however, some of the tools can be overwhelming. Even seasoned cooks can be unsure of how to get the most out of their kitchen appliances.
