2023 Summer Fun Registration Is OPEN!

It's that time of year again where we need to make plans for our children during the summer and we have you covered here at the Camden Extension Office with our   4-H Youth Development program. Programs include the following:

Explore the Great Dismal Swamp June 12-13


Join Camden County 4-H as we spend two days at the Dismal Swamp State Park! We will spend two full days in nature. We will hike, kayak, fish, participate in crafts and more with the help of Dismal Swamp State Park Rangers. Youth will need to bring a water bottle, snack, lunch, sunscreen and bug spray.


District Activity Day June 15

DISTRICT ACTIVITY DAY IS A DAY TO SHOWCASE YOUR TALENTS IN PUBLIC SPEAKING/PRESENTATIONS, 4-H ENTERTAINS TALENT SHOW OR OUTDOOR GRILLING. District Activity Day is a 4-H Presentation Competition held annually. Please contact the Camden County 4-H  Agent via phone or email by 5:00 p.m. May 29, 2023, in order to be eligible to compete. Must give their presentation to the 4-H Agent or those designated by the Agent at least 2 weeks prior to District Activity Day so that they may receive and apply feedback.


Big Canoe Adventures June 29

Join us as we visit Merchant Millpond State Park and paddle the big canoes! Youth will need to bring a water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, and a lunch.


Culinary Academy July 5-7

Join us for three days of culinary fun! Each day youth will learn new culinary skills and prepare their own lunch! Camden County 4-H is partnering with Currituck County 4-H for this exciting 3-day program!


Lego Robotics July 31 and Aug 1

Join us as we explore Lego Robotics! We will build, design and create with our Lego WeDo 2.0 kits! Youth will then work to program their lego robotic creations! This will be a very hands-on program.


Exploring River, Sound, & Woodlands at Camp Cale Aug. 15

Camp Cale is offering an exciting educational experience for 4th-6th graders this summer! (Upcoming 4th graders and those leaving 6th grade are eligible)
Come explore Camp Cale with park rangers  and learn how to identify plants, check out animal pelts.
There will also be some fun team building activities sprinkled in throughout the day!


Kayak Expeditions Aug. 3, 10, and 17

Get ready to explore various bodies of water this summer!
Lake Lesa at Northwest River Park Chesapeake, VA

Areneuse Creek of the Pasquotank River, Treasure Point Park Camden, NC

Broad Bay, First Landing State Park, Virginia Beach, VA



 

Register online today.  Space is limited (a wait list will be established once programs fill).  Payment is required in order to hold your child's spot and should be paid (cash or check only) to the N.C.
