Camden Extension Connections: November 2025

A long-cherished community vision moved closer to reality on Monday, November 3rd, with the official groundbreaking ceremony for the new Camden County Extension Center. Located at 123 Treasure Point Road in Camden, the facility is poised to significantly strengthen N.C. Cooperative Extension’s ability to serve Camden County citizens in critical areas like agriculture, youth development, and family & consumer sciences.

Fall is a great time of year to sample soil from gardens, home lawns, and farms in preparation for next year’s growing season.North Carolinians may have their soil tested throughout most of the year free of charge by the Agronomic Division of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (NCDA&CS). However, the NCDA&CS implements a peak season fee of $4.00 per sample, which is in effect from November 25, 2025, to March 31, 2026.
To avoid this peak season fee, the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Camden County is urging local residents to submit their samples soon. Camden County residents must bring their soil samples to the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Camden County office by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 20th.
Thanksgiving Centerpiece Workshop
In collaboration with the Camden Public Library, Grace Atkins will be teaching a workshop on creating a Thanksgiving floral centerpiece. This will take place on November 25th, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Please keep an eye on their Eventbrite page for registration information. Space will be limited to the first 10 registrants.
Holiday 4-H Youth Explore
