Tell Me Something Good

Homeschool Ag Day

Children exploring tractors, drone hovering over crop field, and outdoor farm activity table
Camden County's 2nd Annual Homeschool Ag Day provided a unique opportunity for local homeschoolers to explore the world of agriculture. The event was a collaborative effort between Camden County Extension and local farmer and Homeschool 4-H Club Leaders Matt and Michele Davis, welcomed 75 youth from Camden County and surrounding areas. Participants explored farm equipment and embarked on a virtual harvesting adventure using VR headsets, gaining insight into the crops cultivated in their own backyard. Experts from Parkway Ag and Tidewater Ag shared valuable knowledge about grain operations and the increasing importance of drones in agriculture. Additionally, Grace Atkins, Horticulture Extension Agent from Pasquotank County, offered a practical lesson on seed planting.

The fundraiser for the Eastern 4-H Center camping program, On the Dock of the Bay, which has been a cherished 4-H tradition in Tyrrell County for many years is being paused this year.

Instead, they are excited to announce that our next celebration will take place on May 2, 2026, marking the 25th anniversary of the Eastern 4-H Center. This milestone offers a unique opportunity to create an unforgettable event that honors our collective impact.

Though they won’t gather this year, their work continues. They are asking for your continued support of the programs and activities of the Eastern 4-H Center, particularly in providing camp scholarships for the upcoming summer. Your generosity ensures that children in need can experience the joy, growth and connection camp provides. Donations can be made online at go.ncsu.edu/eastern4h or via check payable to the NC Agricultural Foundation (memo: “Eastern 4-H Center”).
