Winter Agriculture Meetings
Please find the 2022 Camden Extension Winter Agriculture Meetings schedule enclosed. The meetings in red will include a catered meal, for these please call the Camden Extension Office at 331-7630 to RSVP for the meal count.
I am truly excited about the slate of meetings this year, and to be back holding meetings face-to-face, in-person. In addition to the popular mainstay meetings, programs with new topics have been organized to target key needs. I hope to see you at these meetings.
Soybean Variety Trial Results
Enclosed you will find summarized tables of the results from the 2021 Northeast Ag Expo Soybean Variety Trials. These trials were located in Camden, Currituck, Gates, Pasquotank, and Perquimans counties. Trials were separated into varieties containing either Enlist or Xtend herbicide traits. Production information for each location is located on the back of the pages. Thank you to each of the local farmers and agribusinesses for their contributions to these trials. Without their support, we would not be able to provide this locally generated information to the region’s growers.

Pesticide Exam & Review Session
For farmers that do not have a pesticide license and wish to take the test to get one there will be a review session followed by the test on January 11th starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Pasquotank Extension Office.
NE Ag Expo Small Grains Field Day in Perquimans Co.
The 2022 Northeast Ag Expo Small Grains Field Day will be held on February 16th at Whitehat Seed Farm, address: 102 Whitehat Rd. Hertford, NC 27944. This event will highlight research being conducted on site and include presentations from an array of NC State University Extension Specialists.
2022 Auxin Training Requirement
Options to meet the annual EPA Auxin training requirement are:
- After the soybean production meeting held on January19th at the Currituck Extension Office we will hold an Auxin Training starting at 2:00 p.m.
OR
- Drs. Charlie Cahoon and Wesley Everman will offer live Zoom training options from mid-January through late March. All Live Zoom training sessions will start at 8:30 a.m.
-Attendee Requirements: Registration is required before attendee can join the Live Zoom training
-Each attendee must include name, email address, phone number, county, and N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Certification/License number at registration.
-To receive credit for a virtual training, NCDA&CS requires the following of all attendees: 1) Identity verification at the beginning of the course and after any breaks
2) Active participation by each attendee throughout course to ensure attendee is present (polling questions will be used for Live Zoom meetings).
3) Attendance must be taken at the end of the course.
4) No partial credit is given for those that arrive late or leave early.
