Description:

If you are a Medicare Beneficiary you are eligible to review and/or change your part D, Drug Coverage, every year between October 15th and December 7th. This time is known as the Medicare Annual Election Period. It is definitely worth taking the time to review and compare your Medicare health plan options, but you don’t have to navigate the system alone. N.C. Cooperative Extension and the NC Department of Insurance have a wonderful program to help you navigate through the annual election period called SHIIP which stands for Senior Health Insurance Information Program. You have several options:

  • Call your local counseling site, the Currituck County Cooperative Extension Center at (252) 232-2261 to schedule a phone or in-person consultation with one of our trained counselors. Clients are seen by appointment only so make sure to call and reserve your appointment spot today!
  • Visit www.medicare.gov/find-a-plan to compare your current coverage with other options that are available in your area, and enroll in a new plan if you decide to make a change.
  • Contact the state Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) for assistance over the phone at 1-855-408-1212

If you would like more information please contact the Currituck Extension office via phone at 252-232-2261.
