Camden County 4-H is delighted to thank Dominion Energy for their sponsorship of Camden County youth who attended State 4-H Camp last week! Their financial support granted the families of 9 youth the ability to afford a week of overnight camp at the Eastern 4-H Center.

Overnight camp provides an excellent experience for youth to foster their independence and resilience as they create friendships and participate in programs away from their home.

The camp experience has also been shown to help build youths’ self-esteem as they explore their own talents and interests. They learn about problem-solving and vital social skills as they spend a full week of camp with youth their own age (ACA, 2018).

Camden County youth enjoyed a week of developing independence, making friends and exploring the great outdoors without technology. The youth canoed, climbed rock walls, shot archery, went crabbing, explored marshes, completed crafts, and much more!

Thank you for the support of this vitally important youth experience!
